Assessment Of Knowledge And Awareness Regarding Fermented Foods And Their Impact On Digestive Health Among Different Age Groups
Abstract
Fermented foods play a vital role in maintaining gut microbiota and promoting digestive health due to their probiotic and bioactive properties. This study aims to assess the knowledge and awareness regarding fermented foods and their impact on digestive health across different age groups, with particular emphasis on adults aged 18–40 years. These foods contain probiotics and bioactive compounds that help balance gut microbiota, enhance nutrient absorption, strengthen intestinal function, and reduce digestive disorders.Although awareness has increased through scientific research, public health education, and digital media, variations exist in understanding, perception, and consumption patterns influenced by lifestyle, education, cultural practices, and socioeconomic factors. The findings highlight existing knowledge gaps and misconceptions, emphasizing the need for targeted nutrition education and awareness programs to encourage the regular inclusion of fermented foods in daily diets for improved digestive health and overall well-being.
