Abstract

This is a scoping review. The protocol was developed following the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) methodology for scoping reviews and will be reported in accordance with the PRISMA-ScR (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews) guidelines. The objective of this scoping review is to map and synthesize the available evidence on the effectiveness of support programs for second victims in healthcare settings, including their characteristics, components, outcomes assessed, and reported impacts on healthcare professionals. This review aims to identify how effectiveness has been defined and measured across studies, to describe the types of support interventions implemented, and to highlight gaps in the existing literature to inform future research and the development of institutional second victim support programs.
