Engineering Analysis of Golf Ball Flight
Abstract
This independent project shows how engineering and physics apply and analyze the flight of a golf ball using a launch monitor data. The research examines how attack angle, clubface direction, face-to-path, and spin axis affect carry distance and lateral curvature by using a 6-iron swing. I involved aerodynamic modeling using projectile motion and Magnus effect to apply real testable data collected by a high-school athlete.
