Anharmonic Shredding and Fast Radio Bursts
Abstract
We present a model in which ultra-relativistic circular orbiters emit *anharmonic* electromagnetic signals, leading to a unique “shredding” of the light curve into a drifting spectral comb. This effect arises generically from the relativistic Doppler effect and is shown to match the most salient unexplained feature of repeating fast radio bursts (FRBs): the drifting, synchronized frequency tracks (“drifting combs”). The phenomenon can be tested directly by Fourier decomposition of the observed light curves.
