At the crossroads of abstract questions and contemporary issues, the aim of this summary is to suggest:1) that epistemological reflection in education and training sciences, particularly on the current issue of secularism but also on the very general question of the definition of subjectivity and “intelligence,” can no longer afford to ignore Kant's doctrine of objectivity; 2) that such a perspective cannot itself do without a detour through the history of philosophy, which alone can provide us with an accurate map of a transcendental enclosure that, while certainly expanding and distorting, no one seems able to cross, even today.
