Biology × Cosmology: Order Emerging from Chaos
Abstract
This OSF project documents Biology × Cosmology: Order Emerging from Chaos, an independent interdisciplinary study exploring structural and mathematical parallels between biological systems and large-scale cosmic organization. Biology × Cosmology is an interdisciplinary conceptual study that explores structural, geometrical, and mathematical parallels between biological systems and large-scale cosmic organization. The project investigates whether patterns observed in cellular biology—such as neural network formation, cellular growth dynamics, and mitotic structures—exhibit similarities to cosmological phenomena including large-scale matter distribution, nebular formations, and gravitational clustering. Rather than proposing a completed unifying theory, this research adopts a comparative and exploratory approach. It examines how principles such as self-organization, symmetry, scaling behavior, and energy distribution manifest across vastly different scales of nature. Using visual modeling, basic mathematical reasoning, and pattern-based comparison, the study highlights recurring geometrical and structural features appearing in both microscopic biological systems and macroscopic cosmic structures. The work further considers how biological constraints on perception and measurement may influence human interpretation of cosmic phenomena, raising questions about whether observed similarities arise from underlying structural principles or from shared limitations in observation and modeling. By framing biology and cosmology within a common systems-based perspective, Bio × Cosmo encourages dialogue across physics, biology, and applied mathematics. This project aims to demonstrate the value of interdisciplinary thinking in the study of complex systems and to stimulate discussion on how universal patterns may manifest across distinct scientific domains. Ultimately, Bio × Cosmo serves as an exploratory framework for conceptually bridging microscopic and macroscopic scales without extending beyond empirical evidence.
