Visual Microstructure Observation in Liquid Droplets Using Simple Optical Conditions
Abstract
This project documents a simple optical method for visual observation of micro-scale structures appearing on the surface of liquid droplets. By directing a single light source toward a liquid droplet placed on a smooth surface at a specific angle and observing it from the opposite side at a short distance, characteristic optical images and microstructures become visible without using a microscope. The observed optical images differ depending on the physical and biological properties of the liquid (for example: distilled water, tap water, alcohol, biological fluids, etc.). The purpose of this project is to systematically document the observation method, describe the optical conditions, and collect visual evidence of repeatable optical microstructures appearing in different liquids. This work aims to serve as an open scientific record of the method and its observed visual results.
