Diseño de una estrategia lúdica de aprendizaje para enseñar la técnica de distribución de plantas en programas de ingeniería industrial
Abstract
This paper presents the design, implementation and evaluation of a playful teaching strategy aimed at facilitating the understanding of the Systematic Layout Planning (SLP) method, widely used in the efficient design of plant layout in industrial environments. The designed proposal consists of an interactive game that integrates physical elements, such as boxes representing workstations and digital resources, specifically a dynamic dashboard developed in Power BI. This tool allows to visualize in real time the efficiency of the configurations proposed by the students during each iteration, through the calculation of indicators such as the weighted distance (Wd).The game was applied to fifth and seventh semester students of the industrial engineering program at the Universidad del Valle - Seccional Buga, which allowed comparing the impact of the strategy at different levels of academic training. To measure its effectiveness, pretest and posttest surveys were applied, focused on evaluating the conceptual mastery of the SLP method before and after the experience. The results show a significant improvement in the performance of the students, particularly in those who had not had previous contact with in-plant distribution, who showed a 50% increase in their average score. This shows that the strategy not only facilitates significant appropriation of the content, but also promotes active participation, critical thinking and motivation. It is concluded that play activities represent an effective and versatile pedagogical tool for teaching complex concepts in engineering programs.
