Acceleration and quality improvement of cell formation through data-rich electrochemical protocols
Abstract
The work investigates pulsed formation to accelerate the cell charging process. Tests on NMC622|graphite cells show a halving of the formation time with consistent or improved cell quality. Analyses (HPPC, ICA, GITT) confirm comparable electrochemical properties and indicate a thinner SEI. The method offers great potential for process intensification and transferability to larger cell formats.
