Abstract

This thesis explores aging mechanisms in two peptide-based supramolecular systems. First, I studied a short peptide sequence that self-assembles into amyloid-like fibers, which can be suppressed through a chemical reaction cycle. Second, I used aging to induce division in active complex coacervates, paving the way for Darwinian evolution experiments. Preliminary results show that active coacervates can be trapped inside peptide amphiphiles.
