Abstract

The overarching question of the study is how a text-based conversation with an LLM-based generative artificial intelligence (AI) induces affective processes (empathy, compassion, distress) and cognitive processes (perspective-taking, reflection, knowledge) related to nature connectedness, with a focus on both the general impact and the impact of two different system prompts that assign the AI specific characters (empathic vs. compassionate).
