Shaping Patient Perceptions: A Scoping Review of the Tone and Language of Educational Content in Knee Osteoarthritis Websites
Abstract
The primary objective of this review is to assess the use of language that promotes a biomedical or biopsychosocial narrative across public-facing webpages providing information for consumers on knee osteoarthritis. Secondary objectives include describing whether the language used differs across website characteristics including: i) country of origin, ii) institution authoring the webpage, iii) whether the website is co-designed, and iv) whether it includes advertising. Additionally, the selected webpages will be evaluated for the quality of the information provided, and the level of evidence used to inform the content.
