Abstract

This project offers a first-person account of a family system that reorganized after the loss of a mother. Instead of grief or repair, her absence was managed through erasure and replacement, and the children were expected to adapt in silence. The focus is on how denied loss reshaped authority, roles, and identity within the family, pushing responsibility onto children without protection and prioritizing control over care. This is not about diagnosing individuals, but about understanding the long-term impact of growing up inside a system built on suppressed truth. The work reflects on how these dynamics echoed into adulthood and what made it possible to interrupt the pattern rather than carry it forward.
