Abstract

Report on the guideline for monitoring agroforestry and silvopastoral restoration projects outlines a practical, science-based resource aimed at supporting practitioners in dryland ecosystems. The primary objective is to systematically track progress and assess the ecological and socioeconomic outcomes of restoration efforts. The monitoring plan is organized around specific indicators grouped into thematic domains, including site characterization, environmental conditions, soil attributes, vegetation dynamics, restoration strategies, fauna presence, and socioeconomic contexts. Core indicators assess site management, climate variables, soil properties, and vegetation metrics such as species composition and survival rates. The framework also integrates socioeconomic indicators to capture community participation and governance aspects. By combining biophysical and social data, the monitoring plan facilitates a holistic evaluation of restoration effectiveness, supports adaptive management, and enhances the sustainability and resilience of agroforestry and silvopastoral systems.
