The ambivalent role of “Dragons of Inaction” in the forming of pro-environmental behaviours
Abstract
This project examines the psychological barriers to pro-environmental behaviour using the Dragons of Inaction Psychological Barriers (DIPB) framework. We validate the Hungarian version of the five-factor DIPB questionnaire in a nationally representative sample (N = 1,000) and investigate how different barrier types relate to current and intended pro-environmental behaviours. Using path analyses, we explore the direct and indirect roles of eco-emotions in these associations. The project contributes to the cross-cultural validation of the DIPB scale and advances understanding of how distinct psychological barriers may both hinder and, in some cases, facilitate environmental action.
