Abstract

This coding manual was developed to support consistency, clarity, and accuracy in our collaborative scoping review project. It provides clear guidance on how to extract and record information from each study, ensuring that all coders are aligned in the way variables are interpreted and documented. The manual is divided into thematic sections covering core aspects of each study, including design, sample, intervention, outcomes, and potential sources of bias. Each variable comes with instructions, coding rules, and examples to help coders make informed and consistent decisions. We encourage all team members to consult the manual regularly and treat it as a shared reference point throughout the coding process. If you encounter uncertainty or ambiguity, flag the case and discuss it with the team. The aim is not only to complete the coding accurately but also to maintain transparency and integrity in our approach to the data. By working together and using this manual as a guide, we can build a robust and reliable dataset to support meaningful analysis and knowledge-building in the field of youth digital engagement.
