The effect of intensive domestic language immersion on the time course of lexical access in L2 corpus sentence reading
Abstract
The study examined whether a 7-week intensive domestic immersion program modulates the time course of lexical access during L2 sentence reading in English-dominant bilinguals learning Spanish (N = 19). Eye movements were recorded at the beginning (Session 1) and end (Session 2) of the immersion period while participants silently read 40 isolated Spanish corpus sentences per session. A proficiency-matched non-immersion control group (N = 19) completed the same task over the same interval.
