Telehealth interventions for transgender individuals in mental health care: A Scoping Review Protocol
Abstract
Objective: To map telehealth interventions conducted with transgender individuals for mental health care. Introduction: Gender diversity is a central element of health equity, especially for transgender people, who face inequalities in access to mental health services. The psychological distress of this population is related to contexts of discrimination, stigma, and violence. Telehealth emerges as a strategy to expand access to health, however, actions aimed at the health needs of transgender people are still poorly systematised in the literature, limiting the consolidation of evidence for practice and public policies. Inclusion criteria: Documents that describe, evaluate, implement, or discuss telehealth actions carried out exclusively with transgender people for mental health care, without restriction of language, publication period, or geographical context. Methods: Scoping review using the method recommended by the JBI. The search will include the following databases: PubMed (NLM/NCBI), CINAHL (EBSCOhost), PsycNet (APA), Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature (LILACS) and Web of Science Core Collection. Grey literature will be searched via Google Scholar (first 100 results), ProQuest Dissertations and Theses (ProQuest), CAPES Thesis and Dissertation Catalogue (Brazil), LILACS theses and dissertations, as well as government reports, civil society documents and publications from international health organisations. Data extraction will be performed in pairs independently with consensus rounds. Documents published in any language and year will be included. A descriptive analysis will be performed to present the results.
