Abstract

This umbrella review aims to critically synthesize the available evidence on the association between problematic social media use (PSMU) and symptoms of depression and/or anxiety in adolescents. Although numerous systematic reviews have addressed this issue, findings remain inconsistent and methodologically heterogeneous. Therefore, this review of systematic reviews will evaluate the consistency of results, the methodological quality of included reviews, the presence of mediating or moderating variables, and the limitations reported by the authors. The study will follow the JBI Manual for Evidence Synthesis guidelines and be reported according to the PRIOR (Preferred Reporting Items for Overviews of Reviews) statement.
