Uso y efectividad de las terapias sensoriales para el bienestar: un estudio bibliométrico
Abstract
Introduction: In today's world, there is a growing demand for Traditional Complementary Integrative Medicine, including sensory therapies. Objective: To analyze the existing literature on the use and effectiveness of narrative therapies for human well-being. Method: A descriptive bibliometric study that analyzed 6,160 documents from Scopus (2020-2025) regarding sensory therapies using Bibliometrix, VOSviewer, and the TALL tool. Production indicators, co-occurrence networks, and polarization analyses segmented by demographic and geographical variables were evaluated. Results: The analysis of the term co-occurrence network in Scopus reveals a scientific landscape structured around central nodes of high clinical relevance. The concepts of pain and neuropathic pain constitute the gravitational axis of the network, acting as bridges between basic biological research and therapeutic practice. The specific pathologies driving current scientific production are sensory dysfunction (17.63%), sensory neuropathy (16.31%), and fatigue (12.21%). The scientific community is prioritizing the identification of failures, the lack of evidence in certain interventions, or the reporting of complications associated with the pathology and pathophysiology of patients. Conclusions: There is a consolidated use of sensory therapies over the years; however, the most frequent indication is toward the treatment of already diagnosed conditions rather than prevention.
