Necesidad de la interdisciplinariedad en la formación del profesional de Enfermería desde la asignatura Farmacología
Abstract
Introduction: Interdisciplinarity is considered a source of unity, relationships, and reciprocal actions, involving interpretations among various branches of knowledge known as scientific disciplines. Objective: To identify the need for interdisciplinarity in Nursing professional training from the Pharmacology subject. Methods: A literature review was conducted to perform a critical-reflective analysis of document content from various perspectives. Both national and international articles were considered. The keywords used were: "interdisciplinarity, interdisciplinarity in Nursing, pharmacology." A total of 587 articles were reviewed, meeting the eligibility criteria: containing the keywords in the title, being written in Spanish, English, or Portuguese, published between 2004 and 2023, and being open access. The study was conducted from December 20, 2023, to December 20, 2024. Results: Interdisciplinarity in higher education continues to be considered a challenge, especially for educational sciences. To develop it, for example, in Cuba, several pathways have been proposed. The application of the interdisciplinary approach in the teaching-learning process of the Nursing career would allow for the sustainable advancement of the profession by incorporating knowledge from other disciplines, such as Pharmacology, into its practice. Conclusions: Interdisciplinarity in Nursing education drives professional evolution through the integration of knowledge. Pharmacology, as an essential axis, strengthens competencies for safe drug administration, understanding mechanisms of action, and preventing adverse reactions, thereby consolidating the quality of care and clinical practice.
