Une typologie des attitudes des Français à l’égard des assemblées citoyennes
Abstract
Citizens’ assemblies, deliberative bodies based on sortition, have increasingly taken center stage in debates on democratic renewal. Drawing on data from a nationally representative survey (DecoDe), this note develops a robust typology of attitudes toward these assemblies. The profiles identified through this typology differ substantially in their views on civic participation, institutional functioning, and the political legitimacy of citizens’ assemblies. Political orientation also plays a key role in distinguishing these profiles, highlighting that citizens’ assemblies are not a universally accepted institution, but rather a focal point for contemporary tensions surrounding democratic representation.
