Abstract

This review aimed to explore and map the existing culturally competent service provision for potential victims/victims/survivors of modern slavery and human trafficking (MSHT) in the UK. In addition, this review aims to map the breadth, depth and types of the existing research, and to comment on any research gaps within the literature as well as good practice in the MSHT sector in relation to cultural competence. In this country, following the Modern Slavery Act 2015, the term modern slavery has a broad scope, and it encompasses any form of human trafficking, slavery, servitude, or forced labour. However, in this review we preferred to use MSHT for better clarity towards an international audience and in context where the term human trafficking is more used.
