A Systematic Review of Empirical Research on the Use of Fiction to Enhance Sociological Imagination
Abstract
This paper critically reviews empirical research on the use of fiction in teaching sociological imagination among undergraduates. Relevant studies are sourced from five multidisciplinary academic databases, namely Web of Science, PsycINFO, Scopus, Academic Research Complete, and ERIC, following the PRISMA 2020 systematic review guidelines. The findings indicate that fiction-based pedagogy can foster students’ ability to link personal experiences to broader social structures, yet the evidence is limited.
