Abstract

The development of high-quality module descriptors is a critical yet under-documented aspect of curriculum design in higher education. This paper presents a systematic and standards-informed approach to transforming an initial educational idea into a fully approved, constructively aligned module descriptor for a new undergraduate programme. Rather than focusing on disciplinary content, the paper outlines the pedagogical reasoning, design stages, quality assurance considerations, and alignment strategies employed throughout the process. Drawing on established educational frameworks, professional standards, and best-practice literature, the approach demonstrates how academic rigour, industry relevance, and future-ready competencies can be embedded within a generic module design methodology that is transferable across disciplines and institutional contexts.
