Abstract

Historically, global health nursing practicums and electives have often been one-sided, with host institutions in low- and middle-income countries receiving limited tangible or reciprocal benefits. Nursing students from host countries frequently do not have access to equivalent learning or exchange opportunities. This review examines existing literature on ethical and reciprocal global health partnerships and explores how global health practicums and electives may evolve moving forward. It also considers strategies to ensure partnerships are grounded in equity, mutual benefit, and ethical practice.
