Abstract
Urban trees are essential to climate resilience yet often experience drought stress due to limited root space and climate change. This dissertation improves the understanding of the long-term availability of water for urban trees by using water balance modeling, analyzing drought duration, assessing the impact of irrigation using rainwater harvesting, and enhancing the SWMM-UrbanEVA modeling tool for neighborhood-scale water balance. The results inform sustainable, water-sensitive urban planning and green infrastructure design.
