Miscelánea de murales en la ciudad andina contemporánea, indagación desde los estudios artísticos
Abstract
In most cities in the Andean region of South America, a variety of visual art projects have been established, highlighting the two-dimensional mural format on the surfaces of urban architecture, mostly displaying figurative images. The abundance of these visual forms on main and central streets demands their understanding; these attempt forces us to seek investigative background regarding murals as devices that are not outside of sociopolitical contexts. These interventions are aesthetic elements created as practices of appropriation of physical space by various agents. In this article, we highlight three groups: 1) official graphics: contract artists; 2) community graphics: social processes; and 3) disruptive graphics: urban writers and others. This article explores bibliographical references mainly from universities from the Andean region (Colombia, Ecuador, Peru) and Spain for their outstanding methodological works at doctoral level; the research identifies investigations led by postgraduate and graduate students who have locally addressed the phenomenon of neomuralism in their territories
