Abstract

This thesis focuses on the control of short-stroke direct current linear actuators with permanent magnet movers for point-to-point motion. Speed and position estimation based on induced voltage, and relying solely on current measurement feedback, is investigated for point-to-point motion. A proximate time-optimal nonlinear position controller is cascaded with a linear current controller to achieve fast actuation and soft landing.
