Abstract

Introduction: At the beginning of the nineteenth century, the concern for the environment was demonstrated through the precursor of modern nursing, Florence Nightingale. With his Environmentalist Theory, it was stated that environmental conditions influenced the health-disease process of human beings, developing the control and cleaning of wards, eliminating temporary landfills, improving ventilation and instituting hand hygiene. The concern with environmental impact is present in all sectors, including the health area, which operates continuously generating a large amount of waste. The healthcare industry must lead the sustainability effort by becoming greener and reducing its ecological footprint to improve global health and the health of the planet. As an integral part of this health system is the Operating Room (OR), composed of the Surgical Center (SC) and the Material and Sterilization Center (CME). These sectors contribute to the emission of greenhouse gases, due to the emission of anesthetic gases, excessive production of waste and natural resources. Objective: to map sustainable action measures in the operating room (SC and CSD) in order to reduce environmental impact and maintain a safe practice for the patient. Methodology: will be conducted in accordance with the JBI methodology for scoping reviews and the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR) extension for reporting guidance. The eligibility criteria were detailed according to the CCP: P: Participants (health professionals); C: Concept (sustainable actions); and C: Context (operating room).
