[Non-infectious neuroretinitis: diagnostic and therapeutic approach in unusual presentations].
Abstract
Neuroretinitis is an uncommon condition characterized by inflammation of the optic nerve and the presence of a macular star secondary to lipid exudates. While the etiology is infectious in most cases, there are less common causes that can lead to this condition. In this article, we present two cases of neuroretinitis of rare etiology: the first, a young man with idiopathic stellate neuroretinitis of Leber (LISN), and the second, a patient with Takayasu's arteritis (TA) who developed neuroretinitis after the discontinuation of immunosuppressive medication. Through these cases, we discuss the importance of differential diagnosis and interdisciplinary management in the evaluation of this pathology.
