Mandarin SOAP Project
Abstract
In the current project, we adapt and validate the English SOAP (E-SOAP) sentence comprehension test (subject-relative, object-relative, active passive; Love & Oster, 2002) for Mandarin (called M-SOAP). We test comprehension on the the E-SOAP and M-SOAP and compare outcomes to predictions made by theoretical accounts of sentence processing. These data accompany a paper entitled "Spoken sentence comprehension in Mandarin-English bilinguals: A case against the universal processing advantage of subject-relatives" by Rishi et al. (2026).
