Voter Support for Anticorruption Efforts
Abstract
When do voters reward politicians for anticorruption action? What contextual factors increase voter support for anticorruption action? Voters like anticorruption action because they generally disapprove of corruption. However, contextual features—such as urgency, credibility, and punitiveness—should affect how much they reward politicians for anticorruption efforts. I use survey experiments to explore the conditions under which citizens reward politicians for anticorruption efforts.
