The _Dice Theory
Abstract
The fine-tuning of physical constants is often framed as either evidence of intentional design, brute coincidence, or multiverse selection. This paper proposes an alternative conceptual framework—the Dice Theory—which models the universe as the outcome of a combinatorial compatibility process rather than a single improbable event. Fundamental constants are treated as interdependent variables whose values must be mutually compatible for a universe to persist long enough for complex structures to arise. Using tools from probability theory, phase-space analysis, and the physics of tightly coupled systems, the paper formalizes a compatibility function over cosmic parameter space and shows that the probability of coherence decreases exponentially with the number of coupled variables. This reframing shifts the fine-tuning debate away from teleological explanations toward an analysis of persistence under constraint. The Dice Theory offers testable predictions concerning failed configurations, habitability distributions, and coupling signatures, while remaining agnostic about ultimate metaphysical explanations.
