Abstract

This project is aimed at developing novel computational approaches to understanding and predicting the complex decision making processes that underlie everyday food choices and how these vary across individuals and social groups. In this study we are specifically interested in answering the following questions: To what extent does perceived sustainability and actual sustainability of foods influence food choices relative to other established predictors of choice? How does the weighting of sustainability differ according to general sustainability concerns and social grouping? We will use an online study design in which participants are asked to make hypothetical choices between two meals.
