Abstract

REFLECTIVE MEMO: When my instructor first assigned the Quest Project in class, she said that this assignment had the potential to be life changing. Her words couldn't have been truer.Throughout my academic career, I have never had an assignment that I've connected with on such a profound level and forced me to challenge myself both intellectually and emotionally.Initially, I chose this topic because of my deep personal connection to it.Although I always knew the direction I wanted to go with this project, in the beginning I was apprehensive in my approach. With this being such a complex and nuanced issue, I was overwhelmed by how I was going to consolidate the information I had acquired to the 10 to 15 pages that this project afforded.Even in reflecting on the research and work that I've done, I recognize all the facets of this conversation that I was able to discuss and the many more that I've left unturned. In addressing many of the questions I initially posed, I was inevitably left with more.As my research developed, so did my interests, and I found myself immersed in this incredibly complex and relevant topic.I now know that this quest for me will be a never-ending journey. This project was the beginning of a much larger personal exploration and one that I will probably never have all the answers to.
