Guesthouse at the Zdobnice Eco Farm
Abstract
The aim of the Master’s thesis is design of a low-energy guesthouse building located at the Zdobnice eco farm. The thesis is divided into three parts: the building construction design, the design of building services, and an analysis of the impact of climate change on the design of heating and cooling systems in residential and public buildings. The first part focuses on the project documentation at the building permit stage. It includes the architectural and structural solution, structural engineering design, fire safety solution, building physics assessment, and the energy performance certificate. The second part focuses on the conceptual design of the building services. This includes the design of the heat source, cooling, domestic hot water heating, rainwater management, and the mechanical ventilation of the building. The third part of the Master’s thesis focuses on the impact of climate change on the design of heating and cooling systems in residential and public buildings. The aim is to describe and assess possible effects of changing weather conditions on these systems and to assess their current design within a defined time horizon of thirty years. As an example, the heating and cooling system of the building designed in the thesis has been assessed. Climate change is examined across three regions, specifically one mountainous area, one lowland area, and one area with average weather conditions, using climate data maps for the Czech Republic, based on data from the IPCC and Shared Socioeconomic Pathways. The assessed mountain region corresponds to the location used in the thesis. The assessment shows that while the current system meets present-day requirements, projected increases in outdoor temperatures will significantly raise cooling demand in the future.
