Research Proposal for Ontological Grain
Abstract
Current cosmological models treat the expansion of the universe as a geometric stretching of a pre-existing spacetime manifold. However, this "Block Universe" perspective fails to reconcile the fundamental arrow of time with the discrete nature of information at the smallest possible scales. This proposal introduces the Unified Theory of Ontological Expansion (UTOE), which posits that expansion is not a movement within space, but the continuous creation of space itself. We redefine the Hubble Constant as an "Ontological Metabolic Rate"—the frequency at which unconstrained potential stabilizes into a discrete relational network known as the Spacestructure. To test this hypothesis, we propose Project POG, utilizing dual-nested, cross-correlated laser interferometry. Unlike traditional gravitational wave detection, which seeks signals from massive cosmic events, Project POG aims to isolate a persistent, irreducible "Ontological Jitter." This jitter represents the phase-noise of the Spacestructure as new relational nodes are woven into the vacuum. We hypothesize a specific noise floor derived from the relationship between the Planck length and the Hubble rate. The detection of a correlated signal between two isolated interferometers would indicate that this jitter is an intrinsic property of the spatial volume, effectively falsifying the "smooth manifold" assumption of General Relativity. This would establish the Big Bang as a continuous, local laboratory phenomenon and provide a testable bridge between Relativity and Quantum Mechanics.
