Sobre la basurización del mundo: poética y política del Wasteoceno según Basurama
Abstract
Nowadays, there is a growing concern about waste management. Beyond being an environmental issue, the concern about garbage also reflects an organic need within capitalist societies. Evidently, art has not remained indifferent to this situation; in fact, numerous projects have emerged in recent decades that not only explore the expressive or aesthetic dimension of waste but also engage in deep analytical work on the socioeconomic, ideological, and cultural contexts in which they operate. After an initial approach to waste and the Wasteocene from the perspective of discard studies, this article delves into several initiatives carried out by the Basurama collective. These projects, framed within activism-artivism, highlight the critical potential of waste: TrashLation (2014), Árbol basura (2015–2016), Amar o Mar (2017), and Nuestro aporte (2017).
