Physical activity and anxiety in young people
Abstract
Anxiety is a common health issue among young people, and physical activity is proposed as a preventive strategy that has gained relevance due to its positive influence on psychological well-being. The aim of this study was to systematize the theoretical and methodological foundations regarding physical activity and anxiety in youth. The methodology was a systematic review following the PRISMA protocol, based on the critical analysis of bibliographic sources collected from databases such as Scielo, Dialnet, Redalyc, Google Scholar, and institutional repositories. The keywords used were: physical activity, physical health, anxiety, applying the Boolean operators “AND” and “OR.” The initial sample consisted of 77 documents; after exclusions based on year, variables, language, and lack of relevance, 15 documents were selected. The findings highlight the development of a document that systematizes the theoretical and methodological bases of physical activity and anxiety in young people, which may contribute to the preparation of professionals in the field of physical activity. It is essential to promote healthy habits through the incorporation of physical activity into the daily routines of young people, both in academic and social contexts, in order to prevent and mitigate anxiety disorders.
