Abstract

REFLECTIVE MEMO: I began writing this essay simply trying to recount my last official track and field season.I certainly did not anticipate how much I would enjoy the writing process, and more importantly, how beneficial a self-reflection like this would be for me.Dwelling on high school sports may sound trivial but, for me, track and field was essential in helping me develop leadership and confidence.Yet, what I enjoy most about this piece is that it can relate to so many people not just those interested in track and field.COVID-19 took away many activities and opportunities from everyone. My class in particular, the high school class of 2020, lost our latter half of senior year.I hope my story about losing something I cared about so greatly yet being able to find comfort in my community resonates with the readers.
