Una lectura compartida: Guion para dos lectoras y el diablo
Abstract
This article transcribes an annotated version of Una lectura compartida performance’s script (2023), made from the research developed by the author in 2023 on self-managed libraries in Madrid. Through the fictional voice of the devil and two readers, the text follows the fight between the public, the private and the commons that took place around the building in the corner of Paseo del Prado with Gobernador street, squatted from 2017 to 2019 by La Ingobernable. Biblioletras, a briefly lived self-managed library initiated by two neighbors in las Letras neighborhood, becomes the microscopic lens through which to understand the urban conflict for the free use of public space. The collage of interviews, tales and newspaper articles draws the story of a social moment in which grassroots organisations tried to survive through the association with institutions.
