Abstract

Poultry waste, such as chicken and duck manure, has the potential to pollute the environment if not managed properly. However, both types of waste contain organic matter and nutrients that can be used as a medium for cultivating aquatic organisms. This study aimed to determine the effect of using chicken manure, duck manure, and a combination of both on the biomass and population of silkworms (Tubifex sp.). The study was conducted from June to July 2025 in Kepek Village, Timbulharjo, Sewon, Bantul, Yogyakarta. The method used in this study was an experimentally based Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of six treatments and three replications. The cultivation medium consisted of ditch soil, tofu dregs, rice bran, and the addition of chicken and duck manure at varying doses. Observed parameters included absolute biomass growth, length growth, specific growth rate, and silkworm population size. Growth data were analyzed using ANOVA at a 95% confidence level, followed by Duncan's test. Water quality was analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the addition of chicken and duck manure significantly affected the biomass and specific growth rate of silkworms (p
