Home Front: The Impact of the War in Ukraine on the Political and Economic Situation in Russia's Regions

The aim of this study is to examine and assess the impact of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, launched in February 2022, on the political, financial and economic situation in the federal subjects of the Russian Federation. The main research questions are: 1) How did the war affect regional finances and economies in Russia? 2) How did regional politics change due to the co-optation of war veterans into the political elite? 3) How did Russian regional authorities become involved in the war? 4) How did the war affect the relationship between the Kremlin and regional authorities?
