La filosofía de la educación de Antonio Millán Puelles
Abstract
The article analyzes the philosophy of education of Antonio Millán Puelles, proposing it as a critical and constructive response to the contemporary educational crisis, characterized by epistemological relativism, pedagogical constructivism and technocratic utilitarianism. The author explains how Millán Puelles, from an Aristotelian-Thomistic realist approach, conceives education as a process of introduction of the human being in the objective reality, accessible to reason. In contrast to current trends that reduce education to mere technical instruction or the subjective construction of knowledge, Millán Puelles vindicates the central role of truth, rationality and moral formation in the educational task. In this perspective, the teacher is an ethical and rational figure, a guide to truth, and the educational community is configured as an environment for the transmission of values, beyond mere instruction. The text emphasizes the formative and transcendental function of education, understood as an integral process of the person in all its dimensions: cognitive, ethical, moral and social. It also highlights Millán Puelles’ criticism of contemporary pedagogical approaches which, by rejecting the objectivity of truth and goodness, fragment knowledge and weaken the humanizing function of education. Millán Puelles’ proposal is thus presented as a coherent and robust alternative that seeks to restore to education its original meaning: to form rational and moral persons, open to the truth, capable of living ethically and contributing to the common good in a cultural context that tends to strip education of its philosophical depth.
