Experiment 5
Abstract
Merely believing that experts can predict the future price of a stock leads to more investments in a stock, even when people are not provided with experts’ predictions. Moreover, explicitly stating that the general public cannot access experts’ predictions will moderate the proposed effect by curbing the sense of empowerment derived from experts’ predictive abilities.
