Comparative Analysis of AI-Generated vs Human-Researched Content in Google Search Rankings
Abstract
This project presents a concept-stage empirical study examining the comparative performance of AI-generated content and human-researched content in Google Search rankings. With the rapid adoption of AI writing tools after 2023, questions have emerged regarding the visibility, ranking stability, and long-term effectiveness of AI-assisted content under Google’s Helpful Content and E-E-A-T frameworks. The study proposes a controlled experimental design in which AI-generated and human-researched articles targeting identical keywords are published under comparable conditions. Key performance indicators include indexing speed, ranking position, ranking stability over time, and user engagement metrics derived from Google Search Console data. By focusing on post-2023 search environments and real-world ranking behavior, this project aims to move beyond anecdotal industry claims and contribute empirical evidence to ongoing discussions around AI use in digital publishing and search engine optimization. The findings are expected to inform researchers, content strategists, and policymakers on the ethical and effective integration of AI in content creation workflows.
