Social and economic factors triggering in the Middle East
Abstract
The Middle East has witnessed the spread of terrorism for centuries, destabilizing peace in the region. Terrorist movements in the Middle East have been intense and extremely dangerous due to the factors that gave rise to them, including historical, religious, political, and strategic factors such as the Arab-Israeli conflict, sectarian policies, and foreign interference in the politics of the region's countries, as well as the chaos that followed the Arab Spring and the corruption of regimes and governments in the region. All of these are major factors in the spread of violence and terrorism. In addition, we must not underestimate the importance of socio-economic factors such as poverty and marginalization, globalization, which has provided terrorism with all the conditions and technological means it needs to materialize and expand, as well as underdevelopment, unemployment, low levels of education and intellectual development, corruption, and so on. These socio-economic factors are among the main factors in the spread of terrorism in the Middle East, along with other factors. They contribute to the spread of hate speech and radical ideology, as well as the recruitment of young people into terrorist groups due to poverty, fragility, lack of income, and low levels of education. The emergence of globalization has contributed to the development of terrorist technologies and networks around the world and has made it easier for young people to join extremist groups, due in part to individuals' dissatisfaction with the distribution of wealth.
