Abstract

Reflective Memo: When asked what my story was, something that was impactful on my life, I thought of all the things I had done and learning to overlook society's perception of the homeless was something that forever changed me.At first, I did not know how to get my point across as I did not wish to sound condescending or rude.Although this was an obstacle, I found that writing my essay came naturally as I truly believed every word I wrote.Additionally, my favorite aspect of this piece was how I used an extended metaphor of a movie throughout this essay as I thought of myself to be a protagonist in this situation, attempting to figure out how to accept people different from me.This was difficult at first and was something I really struggled with. However, throughout my piece, one can see how genuine the homeless are and how much I loved them and saw them as people better and more accepting than myself.
