Abstract
The aim of the thesis is to demonstrate that fairy tales can be used to develop quantitative ideas in preschool children. It is based on the overlap of two fields: pre-mathematical literacy and reading pre-literacy. The theoretical part defines the key concepts of fairy tale, quantity, number and selected methods of solution, characterizes the preschool child and the anchoring of pre-mathematical literacy and reading pre-literacy in the framework educational program for preschool education. The practical part deals with the survey of the preference of fairy tales read in kindergartens, the analysis of specific fairy tales in terms of the occurrence of the method of expressing quantity, which provide enough material for developing quantity in preschool children. On this basis, I present created and verified scenarios focused on connecting fairy tales with the preparation of the child for solving word problems. Evaluation criteria were created to confirm the degree of suitability of the given scenarios. Selected phenomena were recorded with the support of direct observation, photo documentation, video recording and reflection of the author. The scenarios contain activities of various types and offer individualization in the process of developing the child.
